Cold Feet

Well - it turns out that I am not very good at this blogging thing as it is 6 months since my last post.
So, to update.

Part 1:
We continued negotiations on the house and returned to Corfu in July 2014. Looking at the house agian we got cold feet a bit. this was not helped by an engineer that came in and gave us a report that indicated that the house was subsiding badly on one side and would need shoring up. We had noticed the crack in the walls on the outside and the fact that the floors were uneven, but the romance had overcome the practical side of our brains. By the time we were ready to take a side trip to Italy to meet up with Jaz, we were really concerned and were considering pulling out.

The vendor (Panos) was very nice about it, but was obviously disappointed. We returned from Italy in late July and met with the engineer, the lawyer and the agent. There was a lot of discussion but the outcome was that the price came down by another 5,000 Euro and we agreed on 45,000 as the asking price. We figured that would leave us around 50K to renovate the place based on the money we have in the bank. the sale was back on
